The Kit Cat Klock's history dates back to the Great Depression, when designer Earl Arnault (1904-1971) first invented the unique, animated pendulum clock in Oregon. The Allied Clock Company, founded in Portland, Oregon, began manufacturing these captivating timepieces in 1932.

Over the decades, the Kit Cat Klock's design has evolved, with the addition of the top paws and a dapper bow tie in the 1940s and 1950s. The clock's popularity soared, and it became synonymous with the vibrant 1950s in America.

In 1962, the company relocated to Southern California and renamed itself the California Clock Company. In 1982, Woody Young, a serial entrepreneur, took over as President and Owner, ensuring the Kit Cat Klock's legacy continued into the new millennium.

Despite facing challenges in the late 1980s, when American electric motor manufacturing was relocating to Asia, the California Clock Company persevered, developing a new battery technology to keep the Kit Cat Klock ticking.
